No one understands what it means to be an athlete better than I do. In fact, I was competing in health and sports performance long before I knew it was called Naturopathic Medicine. My father was born with a congenital heart disease that basically gave our family VIP access into most hospitals. With spending so much time in various clinics, it gave our family a huge appreciation for the time we could spend away from them as well. When I started to compete in sports, most of my success came from the work that was done away from the game; the food I was eating, the water I was drinking, the sleep I prioritized. My father taught me how to appreciate the things that I could control that would have a positive impact on my health and performance in sport.
I have since represented Canada all around the world, competing in beach volleyball. Combining my love of sport, performance and understanding how my was made to work has given me an edge on my opponents.
As long as I can remember, I’ve been competing to improve my health and performance in sport. Now, as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, I want to share this knowledge and experience with my patients.
